Project Objective
This project aims to strengthen ASEAN’s climate change interventions and accelerate mainstreaming of climate change through operationalising ASEAN-level cross-pillar and cross-sectoral coordination and implementation of high-level strategy and action plans, thereby contributing to enhancing sustainable development, solidarity, and peace of the ASEAN Community to cope well with new external threats surrounding the ASEAN region including, among others, COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions and conflicts that give impact on global supply chain of commodity such as food and fossil fuels, and restraint resources such as water, ocean, and forest environment.
The project specifically contributes to the followings:
Accelerating implementation of AMS’ NDCs and sectoral roadmaps especially on common actions across AMS by enhancing enabling conditions of finance, technology, and capacity development and by synergizing adaptation and mitigation
Accelerate implementation or review/assess the progress of the AWGCC Action Plan (AAP)
Integrating/coordinating common actions or activities in ASEAN sectoral/cross-sectoral plans relevant to climate change and those in various plans or activities implemented by ASEAN Development Partners and Dialogues
Establishing enabling conditions to promote smoother transitions toward the ASEAN regional long-term vision identified in ASCCR to achieve the resilient and net-zero ASEAN Community
Supporting the establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change
Promoting reflection of common strategies and actions of the ACCSAP in relevant sectoral/cross-sectoral plans across pillars, sectors and countries
Project Description
The ASEAN Climate Change Strategic Action Plan 2025-2030 (ACCSAP) is expected to serve as a roadmap to accelerate the transition of ASEAN countries towards achieving the goals of their NDCs and long-term strategies and visions, consisting of mitigation and adaptation. Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) will undertake a research study to develop the develops the “ASEAN Climate Change Strategic Action Plan 2025-2030 (ACCSAP)” in a bottom-up fashion through stocktaking of the ASEAN Member States (AMS)’ climate change interventions and their contributions to SDGs.
