Focusing a Gendered Lens on Climate Resilience, Credit, and Malnutrition in Translocal Cambodia and South India

Project Objective

This project aims to publish several academic articles and non-academic workshops and activities that have implication for policy impact and promote dialogue among key stakeholders with three in-country workshops. It draws on gender and social reproduction theory to explore how credit provisioning in Cambodia and South India is affecting the material provisioning of food in rural households, in regions affected by climate change. The project thus provides original and nuanced evidence on links between patterns of indebtedness and nutritional status and provisioning.

Project Description

This project is cutting-edge research with innovative that addresses cross-cut topics and disciplines in developing holistic interventions and solutions to developing countries in Cambodia and India. This is collaborative research with a team of researchers from Cambodia, UK, and India. The research topics focus on i) credit as a form of climate resilience, shaping nutritional pathways; 2) dynamics of nutrition provisioning and credit-taking in a changing climate; 3) gender and social reproductive dynamics of the climate-credit-nutrition nexus; and policy contribution to improved and more equitable credit provisioning and nutritional outcomes in a changing climate.
