{"id":34509,"date":"2022-02-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-23T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cdri.org.kh\/new\/news\/webinar-on-strengthening-democracy-for-the-people-experience-and-practice-of-china\/"},"modified":"2025-02-16T19:48:04","modified_gmt":"2025-02-16T12:48:04","slug":"webinar-on-strengthening-democracy-for-the-people-experience-and-practice-of-china","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/cdri.org.kh\/new\/news\/webinar-on-strengthening-democracy-for-the-people-experience-and-practice-of-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar on &#8220;Strengthening Democracy for the People: Experience and Practice of China&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">On Thursday, 24 February 2022, t<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; font-size: 14px;\">he Cambodia Development<br \/>\nResource Institute (CDRI), Cambodia\u2019s leading independent development policy<br \/>\nresearch institute, in partnership with the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD) and China NGO Network for International<br \/>\nExchanges (CNIE), successfully organised a webinar on the theme<\/span><i style=\"font-family: Roboto; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0&#8220;Strengthening Democracy for the People: Experience and Practice of China<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; font-size: 14px;\">.&#8221; This webinar gathered about 500 participants who are not only officials to policy-makers in Cambodia, but there are also\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; font-size: 14px;\">representatives from<br \/>\nChina Foundation for Peace and Development, China Family Planning Association,<br \/>\nChina Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, The Amity Foundation, Peaceland<br \/>\nFoundation and Kunming Yundi Behavior, Health Research Center and some other<br \/>\nChinese NGOs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;line-height:107%;font-family:\n\" calibri\",sans-serif;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:=\"\" calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;=\"\" mso-bidi-font-family:daunpenh;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;mso-ansi-language:=\"\" en-us;mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:khm\"=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; font-size: 11pt;\">This high-level webinar explored and discussed the abovementioned broad theme with the aim to make important contribution to policy design and to share local experience development and success. This webinar was structured under six interrelated topics. The first three topics evolved around the aspect of &#8220;People&#8217;s democracy in the whole process&#8221; by focusing on (1) the historical experience (the development process of China&#8217;s democracy), (2) institutional arrangement (the national governance system that guarantee the people&#8217;s ownership), and (3) the specific practice (democratic election, consultation, decision-making, management, and supervision with full chain and coverage).
