International labour migration can be characterised in three
\nways \u2013 as human aspiration, tradition, and necessity. For some
\npeople, working overseas is a dream. For others, international
\nlabour mobility is a tradition. For a great number of people
\nhowever, international labour migration is an economic
\nnecessity. It is the only viable solution to realise their basic
\nhuman right to a decent life. GMS worker movements to
\nThailand typify all three characterisations of international
\nlabour mobility. While this book focuses on the economic
